16 Dead in Vietnam Helecopter Crash

A Vietnamese military parachute training mission kills 16 people and 5 injured when their helicopter crashed close to the Vietnamese capital on Monday.

The report said, about 15 minutes after it takeoff, the Russian-made MI-171 helicopter came down in a small village (about 24 miles west of Hanoi).

The injured were being treated but they only had a slim chance of survival. "The Doctor in the national burns hospital in Hanoi said."

Lt. Gen. Vo Van Tuan, Vietnam military deputy chief of staff said, The pilot successfully steered the chopper away from a residential area to prevent loss of life on the ground.
