Magnitude 5.1 quake strikes Tawi-Tawi

Phivolcs earthquake information map on 09/09/14

On Tuesday morning, Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology(Phivolcs) recorded a magnitude 5.1 earthquake in the province of Tawi-Tawi.

The Phivolcs said that the quake struck at 8:26 a.m September 9, 2014.

 Its epicenter is 51 kilometers east of South Ubian with a depth of 72 kilometers.

Intensity 3 felt in Bongao, Tawi-tawi and an Intensity 1 in Zamboanga City.

The quake will not cause damage but is expected to produce aftershocks, Phivolcs added.
